The Chairman of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, Aniekpon Ekpo has been suspended with immediate effect by the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, for alleged misappropriation of funds and gross misconduct.
The decision was reached by the house during Plenary on Tuesday 18th January, following a report presented by the Chairman, House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mark Esset.
The House directed the Vice Chairman of the Council, Mercy Bassey to take over from the suspended Chairman, pending the conclusion of investigation into the matter.
In his remark, the Speaker of the Assembly, Aniekan Bassey directed the Clerk of the House to communicate the resolutions to the Executive Governor of the State.
