Gunmen Kill Three Civil Defence Officers in Imo

Three personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Imo State have been allegedly killed by gunmen.

According to Punch, the deceased officers were killed on Sunday night, around Eke Isu market in Obiangwu community in the Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of the state

The NSCDC personnel were said to be riding in a vehicle when they were ambushed and killed by their attackers.

Three operatives of the NSCDC were killed last night at Eke Isu market in Obiangwu community in the Ngor Okpala LGA of Imo State. They were ambushed while in their vehicle. Their bodies have not been evacuated as we speak. Soldiers have taken over the community”, a community source said.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Henry Okoye, confirmed the incident.

Okoye said security operatives had moved into the community and returned to normalcy.

In a related development, the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) Kaduna, has advised inhabitants of Mando, Tsamiya, Kauya and Afaka general area to stay clear of its range management shooting course scheduled for Tuesday.

The academy, however, advised the communities not to panic on hearing sounds of gunshots during the period of the exercise.

This was contained in a statement by the Academy’s Public Relations Officer, Maj. Victor Olukoya, on Monday in Kaduna.

It said the exercise was meant for Army and Airforce cadets of the 70 Regular Course and would end on April 1.

He said the exercise would be held at the NDA Open Range Afaka.
