Governor Abiodun Places N50m Bounty on Killers of Ogun Government Accountant

Date:

The Ogun state government under Governor Dapo Abiodun has announced a N50 million reward to anyone who offers information that could lead to the arrest of the killers of its Director of Finance and Administration, Taiwo Oyekanmi.

Recall that Oyekanmi, an accountant in the governor’s office, was murdered in Abeokuta on November 29, 2023, by a gang of armed robbers who attacked a bullion van conveying government money.

About five hooded gunmen reportedly hijacked the bullion van while ascending an overhead bridge at Kuto and opened fire on the accountant.

It was further gathered that the hoodlums, wielding sledge hammers, broke the bullion van door and went away with the money.

Oyekanmi was rushed to the State Hospital in Ijaye, Abeokuta, where he reportedly died.

Remains of the deceased have been buried with Governor Dapo Abiodun giving security agencies a marching order to smoke out the killers.

However, more than one week after the murder, no arrest has been made.

It was reported that police roadblocks have been mounted at a short distance to another, causing members of the public to worry.

In the announcement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, the government promised that information provided would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
