The Nigerian Senate has received President Muhammadu Buhari’s request to approve additional financing of the National Social Safety Network Programme to the tune of $800 million.
The request contained in a letter read by the President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan during Plenary explained that the loan would be secured from the World Bank to fund the National Social Safety Network Programme.
The letter further said the Programme is aimed at bettering the lives of the poor and vulnerable in the society.
Meanwhile, the Senate also adopted the Conference Committee report on car sector reform.
The Lawmakers stressed that security agencies need to redouble efforts after a motion drew their attention to the loss of forty – seven persons killed in Benue state by suspected killer herdsmen.
