FG: Art Minister Hannatu did not make a statement regarding the NYSC.

Date:

The Minister of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, has issued contradicting claims regarding her participation in the National Youth Service (NYSC).
Although the Minister was supposedly quoted as saying in a statement released on Sunday that she was not in violation of Nigerian law by accepting the position of Minister while still completing the required NYSC, another statement from her office stated that the Minister has not yet made any comments on the matter.
“I admire and appreciate Nigerians’ support, unity, and understanding in these trying times. For the avoidance of doubt, I would want to clarify that I have not made any statements regarding the current situation,” read a statement from the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation that was signed by Suleiman Haruna, the deputy director of press.

After it became known that the Minister was participating in the program, there has been a fierce debate regarding her status with regard to the NYSC.

Hannatu is one of the 45 ministers that President Bola Tinubu gave responsibilities to last week after the Senate confirmed them.
