Federal Govt Announces Plans to Revoke More Mining Licenses in 2024

The federal government will revoke more mining licenses for other categories of defaulters this year.

Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, issued the warning in his New Year message to Nigerians yesterday in Lagos.

According to the Minister, the federal government was prioritising value addition for prospective investors in the mining sector, adding that the era of carting away Nigeria’s resources was over.

He said the ministry plans to tackle the menace of insecurity in mining areas alongside the activities of illegal miners, through a rejigged security architecture.

He also assured that the mining sector would experience a major leap this year to contribute to increased Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
