The Minister of Arts and Culture, Barrister Hannatu Musa Musawa, has urged Nigerians to embrace and celebrate the nation’s rich cultural diversity, highlighting it as a cornerstone of strength and unity.
In her speech commemorating the 2024 World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, Barrister Musawa stressed the importance of acknowledging and championing Nigeria’s diverse cultural heritage.
She called on Nigerians to take pride in their cultural identities and recognize their potential to foster economic growth, social and psychological well-being, and National cohesion.
Barrister Musawa underscored that Nigeria’s diverse cultures and ethnicities should catalyze dialogue, mutual understanding, and peaceful coexistence, rather than allowing differences to fragment the society.
The World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development (World Culture Day) is set aside by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on May 21st every year to raise awareness of the role of culture in sustainable socio-economic growth and development.
