Kano Gov. Criticizes Inequity In Palliatives’ N500 billion Distribution

Date:

The Kano State Government has voiced severe unhappiness with how the N500 billion allotted by the Federal Government to boost small-scale companies throughout the nation’s geographical zones has been distributed.
During a meeting with representatives from the Kano Cooperative Society on Thursday night at the Government House, Governor Abba Yusuf brought up the issue.
Lagos State earned 47 percent of the allotment, making it the biggest recipient, followed closely by the South-South Zone with 17 percent, while other regions received much smaller amounts, according to Governor Yusuf.
The governor referred to this method of distribution as “unfair, unconstitutional, and illegal,” emphasizing the requirement for quick action to address the issue.

Governor Yusuf also urged members of the National Assembly and the pertinent authorities to address the situation and take necessary action against individuals in charge of the unfair distribution.
In order to help cooperative societies fight poverty and recover their power, he stressed the state government’s commitment to doing so.
Aminu Gwarzo, the deputy to Governor Yusuf, spoke at the meeting and reaffirmed the administration’s main objective of ending poverty in Kano State.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to making sure that opportunities and resources are distributed fairly throughout all areas of the nation.
The gathering was held as part of events honoring the 2023 International Day of Cooperatives, which emphasized the crucial function cooperatives play in fostering economic and social development.

Members of the Kano Cooperative Society spoke on behalf of the organization and voiced their worries about the uneven distribution while pledging their support for the state government’s initiatives to combat poverty.
