ASUU Threatens to Omit Missed Sessions Over No Work No Pay Policy

The Academic Staff Union Of Universities, ASUU has threatened to skip the backlog of academic sessions halted during the seven months strike if the federal government persists on its no work no pay policy.

According to ASUU members, in the University of Port Harcourt and Rivers State, after a special congress and protest on Monday argued that the policy does not apply to them because they have picked up tools from where they dropped tools seven months ago and are currently clearing the backlogs of work. 

Chairman, ASUU, Uniport, Dr. Uzoma Chima, explained that the university lecturers are combining two sessions in order to clear up the backlog during the period of the strike. 

He further explained that during the strike the lecturers embarked on research while members engaged in community services adding that the teaching that was not done, is being carried out.
