Akwa Ibom Community Condemns Attack On Oil Workers, Demands Sanctions For Masterminds

The Unyenge Community in Mbo local government Area of Akwa Ibom state have called for investigation into last Thursday’s attack on workers of the Universal Energy Resource Limited, (UERL) saying the perpetrators need to be made to face the full wrath of the law.

Speaking at a media briefing in Unyenge on Saturday, the Chairman of the Council of Chiefs in the Community, Chief Ovong Ekpe, while condemning the attack said such incidence has never happened in the history of the community’s relationship with UERL, which has been operating in the area for more than a decade.

Chief Ekpe also stated that the elders and youth of Unyenge Community regret the unforeseen incident that took place on January 20, where two police personnel and a staff member of the universal energy resource limited were attacked by hoodlums.
