Akwa Ibom Assembly Declares State of Emergency on Security Over Kidnapped Judge

Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has called on the State Ministry of Internal Security and Ministry of Works to beef up security in the state and facilitate the quick completion of Nsit Atai-Oron Road.

The House made the call when a report of the kidnapped High Court Judge in the State, Justice Joy Unwana was brought up as a matter of public importance during Plenary on Thursday.

Some members of the house while deliberating on the issue, noted that the poor state of internal roads and security in the state should be addressed with immediate effect.

Speaker of the House, Udeme Otong further directed the State Ministry of Works to complete the Nsit Atai-Oron Road while calling on the Commissioner of Police and Ministry of Internal Security to deploy resources to reduce insecurity in the state.
