AKWA IBOM: 29 Petitioners Seek Legal Redress Over 2023 Elections

Twenty-nine Petitioners have appeared before the National and State Houses of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital, to seek legal redress over the results of the 2023 elections.

Fourteen of the twenty- nine petitions submitted to the two Panels of Justices are for the Senate, eleven are for the House of Representatives, and fourteen are for the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.

Panel one is headed by Justice Kudirat Jose as Chairman while panel two has Justice B. A. Taiwo as Chairman.

Justice Taiwo of Panel 2 insisted that the panel will give all petitions the needed urgency within the time frame allotted by law.

Nigerian Bar Association, Uyo Branch Chairman, Ememobong Udo, and a Legal Practitioner, Akanimo Asuquo, expressed confidence in members of the panel to do justice to the cases.

The National and State Houses of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, Panel 1, received 15 petitions while panel 2 had 14 petitions.
