The Coordinator of the Guinness World Record Breaking Carols Festival in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Aniekpeno Mkpanang has reflected on the gains achieved by the historic programme since 2007 which set a new Guinness World Record for the Largest Group of Carol Singers in the World.
Mkpanang, who spoke during the Thanksgiving Service to mark the end of a successful 15-year period of heading the coordination of the event, described his assigned role as a rare and precious gift and a mandate bathed in trust.
The GWB Carol Festival Coordinator held that there has been an enormous impact created by the carols festival which he said cover a wide range of area.
He added that the greatest secret of the successful organization of the carol’s festival is God’s grace which he said gave him the courage to persevere.
In his words, “Against the backdrop of these success stories and in the face of daunting challenges, we never faltered because we knew that our strength did not lie solely within ourselves. It was through the abounding grace of God that we found the courage to persevere.
Mkpanang specifically thanked the past two governors Godswill Akpabio and Udom Emmanuel for their role in ensuring that the vision started, matured, and got sustained, describing the event as a spiritual tourism extravaganza, which constantly attracted people to Akwa Ibom state.
He also prayed for the new coordinators of the event, wishing them success and grace to take the carols festival higher, emphasizing that “the show must go on.”
Akwa Ibom State Carols Festival initiated in 2007 is an Annual Christmas event held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, and has featured 867 Choirs from local churches in Akwa Ibom and not less than 45 indigenous gospel artistes over the past 15 years.
