Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on Thursday held a closed-door meeting with former President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja.
Obi shared photos of the meeting on his X handle, describing Jonathan as “a dear elder brother, statesman, and leader.” He said their discussions focused on the state of the nation but did not provide further details.
The meeting comes amid calls for Jonathan to contest the 2027 presidential election. Although he has yet to declare his intentions, both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and opposition stakeholders are reportedly making moves to bring him and Obi into the race for the party’s ticket.
