A British man accused of driving his vehicle into crowds during Liverpool’s Premier League title parade last May has pleaded not guilty to 31 offences.
Paul Doyle, 53, a former British marine, appeared by videolink from prison at Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday, where he denied charges relating to 29 victims aged between six months and 77 years.
On May 26, thousands of Liverpool supporters filled the streets to celebrate the club’s record-equalling 20th English top-flight title, when celebrations were cut short by the shocking incident.
Merseyside Police reported that 134 people were injured after Doyle allegedly drove his car into the crowds.
He faces charges of dangerous driving, attempting to cause or causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and affray.
Doyle, a father of three from the Croxteth area of Liverpool, will stand trial beginning November 24, with proceedings expected to last three to four weeks.
