Suspected Internet Fraudsters Shoot Collaborator Over ₦94 Million Dispute in Edo

Date:

Suspected internet fraudsters allegedly shot one of their associates following a disagreement over the sharing of ₦94 million obtained from an online scam.

The incident occurred on Sunday in Okhoro, Egor Local Government Area of Edo State.

According to reports, the victim, who was driving a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) along Okhoro Road, was intercepted by gunmen in another vehicle.

Eyewitnesses revealed that the attackers forced the victim out of his car and shot him at close range.

The victim was identified as an “Aza Man,” a term used to describe individuals who provide bank accounts for receiving illicit proceeds from fraudulent activities. It is believed the victim reneged on an agreement to share the ₦94 million proceeds with other members of the syndicate, opting instead to retain the entire amount.

“The Aza Man was supposed to receive a certain percentage, but he kept the entire sum, leading to the fallout with the group,” a witness disclosed.

Edo State Police Command spokesman, SP Moses Yamu, confirmed the incident, stating that investigations are underway to apprehend the perpetrators. He also noted that the victim is receiving treatment at a medical facility.
