Tragedy has struck in Nepal as a plane crash claimed the lives of eighteen passengers aboard, leaving the pilot as the sole survivor.
Nepal has a woeful track record on aviation safety and the Himalayan Republic has seen a spate of deadly light plane and helicopter crashes over the decades.
Nepali Police Spokesman, Dan Bahadur Karki said the Saurya Airlines flight carried two crew and 17 of the Company’s Staff members. At the same time, Gyanendra Bhul of Nepal’s Civil Aviation Authority told newsmen without giving further details that the flight was being conducted for either technical or maintenance purposes.
Both of them were unable to confirm the nationality of the sole foreigner aboard.
