Super Falcons Begin Olympic Preparations in Spain

Date:

Nigeria’s Super Falcons have commenced training in the Spanish city of Seville ahead of their participation in the women’s football event at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

The Super Falcons camp opened in Seville on Friday but did not hold any training sessions until Sunday due to the limited number of players in camp.

Among the early arrivals are captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Tochukwu Oluehi, Deborah Abiodun, Toni Payne, and Rivers Angels keeper Morufat Ademola.

Other players already in camp include goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, Gift Monday, Chidinma Okeke, and Christy Ucheibe.

The team is scheduled to take on Canada in a warm-up game on 17th July and will depart for France on 18th July.

Super Falcons Head Coach, Randy Waldrum named 18 players and four alternates for the women’s football event last Wednesday. However, changes are expected due to an injury to midfielder Halimatu Ayinde.

The Super Falcons’ first game at the Olympics is against Brazil on 25th July, followed by matches against Spain and Japan.
