Four Towers Vandalized Along Jos-Gombe 330KV Transmission Line

Transmission Company of Nigeria has reported that four towers along the Jos-Gombe 330kv Transmission line were vandalized.

In a statement by the Company’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, upon tripping, TCN Operators attempted restoration, but subsequent tripping necessitated dispatching TCN linesmen to trace and rectify the fault.

The statement said towers 288, 289, 290, and 291 were vandalized, with some tower members stolen, leading to their collapse.

As a consequence, the transmission company said bulk power supply to Gombe, Yola, and Jalingo substations has been disrupted, impacting areas served by Yola and Jos Electricity Distribution Companies.

The Company said it is working to back-feed Gombe through its 132kv transmission line from Bauchi, subsequently supplying Ashaka, Potiskum, Damaturu, and Billiri/Savannah to mitigate the incident’s effects reassuring of efforts to restore supply to affected areas.

Meanwhile, some residents in Sokoto State led a peaceful march to the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, KEDCO office to express their grievances on the current state of power supply and excess billing in their areas.

The residents were those of Gwiwa Low-Cost, Low-Cost Intermediate Quarters, and Yawuri Flats among others.
