Nasarawa State Police Command has banned all forms of protest throughout the state.
The Police Spokesperson in the State, Ramhan Nansel, in a statement said the Police Command took the decision in order to prevent the breakdown of law and order and to sustain the peace currently being enjoyed in the state.
According to him, the intelligence report on security in the state can no longer sustain any form of protest in the state.
Consequently, the police advised parents and guardians to ensure their children and wards do not violate the order as anyone caught shall be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.
Meanwhile, Police Authorities in Nasarawa have paraded 17 suspected political thugs for various offences in the recently concluded elections in the state.
Parading the suspects at the Police Headquarters in Lafia on Sunday, the Public Relations Officer in the State, Ramhan Nansel, said they were arrested with arms and ammunition.
The PPRO said some of the suspects were imported from Imo and the Federal Capital Territory with the aim of disrupting the recent elections in the state.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Maiyaki Muhammed Baba, had raised an alarm over moves by certain political elements in the state to import thugs with the intent of causing a breach of peace during the presidential and national assembly elections.
Nansel added that the suspects would be charged to court on completion of investigation by the command’s criminal investigation department.
