National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Abdullahi Adamu has said the party has no regret fixing the Presidential Nomination Forms at N100 million, insisting that it was a deliberate ploy to discourage candidates who are not serious contenders from infiltrating the party to cause confusion.
He said this on Friday while addressing State House Correspondents after presenting the Ekiti APC governorship candidate, Abiodun Oyebanji, to President Muhammadu Buhari.
Adamu made this known on Friday while addressing State House Correspondents after presenting the Ekiti APC governorship candidate, Abiodun Oyebanji, to President Muhammadu Buhari, noting that it was also hiked to mobilise sufficient funds to run the elections.
It is also to discourage parties that have no chance of winning elections from sponsoring individuals to play the role of spoilers, he added.
The former lawmaker came to the Presidential Villa Abuja, in the company of the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum and Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi; Governor of Kebbi State, Atiku Bagudu; and National Secretary of the APC, Iyiola Omisore.
Recall that since the ruling party pegged its presidential nomination forms at N100 million, there have been public outcry and varied opinions about the decision.
While some claim it would compromise the nation’s democratic process, as it would discourage genuine candidates that could effect the much-needed reforms from contesting, others view it as a welcome development.
