Former Barcelona and Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has been handed a full-time role in Tottenham’s academy.
Yaya Toure has been with the club since December, serving in an unofficial capacity while he worked towards getting his UEFA A Licence.
The Ivorian completed his coaching course at the Football Association of Wales (FAW) earlier this summer and will now have his own age category to manage at Spurs.
Toure has not been active professionally since his spell at Chinese club Qingdao Hungahi in 2019 but he did train with League Two club Leyton Orient briefly ahead of the 2020/2021 season.
Toure has been helping at the academy since December while working on his License. Now done with his certification, Toure will be the academy coach with the Premier League side.
He will work with his age group and could be joined at the clubs’ Enfield training base by ex-striker Jermain Defoe who is set to return to his old team.
