WAEC Set to Begin 2024 Computer-Based WASSCE for Private Candidates

Date:

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that the 2024 Second Series of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates will commence on Friday, October 25, and run until Friday, December 20, 2024.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, WAEC disclosed that the examination will adopt a hybrid mode, combining both computer-based and traditional methods. For objective or multiple-choice questions, candidates will answer directly on the screen, while essay and practical questions will be displayed on-screen, but responses must be written in answer booklets.

Additionally, candidates who prefer the traditional pen-and-paper format for the entire examination will have the option to do so.

WAEC also announced an extension of the registration deadline to Tuesday, October 29, 2024, allowing more time for interested candidates to enroll. After the registration period, the “Walk-in-Candidate” option will be available, permitting candidates to register up to 24 hours before the scheduled paper of their choice.

The final timetable for the examination is available for download on the WAEC Nigeria website.

To help candidates prepare effectively, WAEC encourages them to use the Council’s available learning resources, including the WAEC e-Study platform, WAEC Past Questions and Answers books, and the WAECKonnect platform for candidate interaction.

WAEC expressed its commitment to leveraging technology to improve accessibility and wished all candidates success in the upcoming examination.
