President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday visited victims of the recent violent attack in Yelewata, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, where over 59 people were killed and many injured.
The President arrived at the Tactical Air Command of the Nigerian Air Force Base in Makurdi at about 12:58 p.m. and proceeded directly to the teaching hospital where survivors of the assault are receiving treatment.
Photos from the visit show Tinubu moving through the hospital wards, interacting with victims, and offering words of sympathy.
Following the hospital visit, the President moved to the new Banquet Hall at the Benue State Government House for a closed-door meeting with key stakeholders.
Those expected at the high-level meeting include:
- Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia
- Governors from North-Central states
- National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu
- Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume
- Service Chiefs, members of the National Assembly, leaders of the APC, and community leaders from affected areas
The dialogue aims to develop a long-term strategy to end the violence that continues to plague rural communities in the state.
The Benue State Government declared a public holiday to mark the presidential visit and to allow full participation from citizens and stakeholders.
