President Bola Tinubu has sworn in Professor Joash Amupitan, SAN, as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The swearing-in ceremony took place at 1:50 p.m. on Thursday at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa in Abuja, one week after the Senate confirmed Amupitan’s nomination following a rigorous screening process.
President Tinubu charged the new INEC Chairman to safeguard the integrity of Nigeria’s electoral system and strengthen the institutional capacity of the Commission to deliver credible elections nationwide.
