Tinubu Clarifies Position on Expired PVC

Date:

Swiftly, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, has retracted his earlier stance on Permanent Voter Card, which he was reported to have said that the current PVCs issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission, have expired

In a statement by his media adviser, Tunde Rahman, said his boss immediately apologised for the incorrect statement and felt sorry for any confusion it may have caused.

While granting audience to a delegation of women from across the country attending the APC Women Conference last night, he urged them to check the status of their voter cards and mobilise supporters to vote, but he used the word ‘expire’ instead of stating that the cards may have to be updated.

The Media aide also said Tinubu, appreciates the patriotic and necessary work of INEC and its personnel in assuring a free and fair electoral process for all Nigerians in all political parties.

Tinubu said the gap between those who registered for elections and those who usually turned up to pick their PVCs was wide, and said such constitutes a serious challenge, which may impede the growth of our democracy.
