The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare has commended Nigeria wrestlers for coming out top at the just concluded African Senior Wrestling Championships in Hammamet, Tunisia.
The Nigerian contingent won nine gold, four silver and two bronze medals with the women’s team led by Blessing Oborududu reclaiming the top spot in the continent that Nigeria lost to Tunisia in the previous edition held in Casablanca, Morocco.
Dare urged the Nigeria Wrestling Federation led by former Olympic champion Daniel Igali to keep up the excellent hard work and sustain the progressive momentum with the aim of wrestling fetching Nigeria another podium finish at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
According to the minister, the Federal Ministry of Sports and Youth Development is proud of what wrestling federation has done and urged other sports federations to emulate the progressive momentum of the wrestling federation.
