COSEYL announces massive mobilization ahead of next election cycle
The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL), the region’s largest sociopolitical youth organization, has unveiled plans for a historic 5-million-man rally to endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Orji Uzor Kalu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a joint statement by COSEYL President General Comrade Goodluck Ibem and Publicity Secretary Comrade Okey Nwaoru, the group revealed the mobilization drive will take place in Abia State, drawing participants from across the five Igbo-speaking states.
Strategic Political Move
The rally aims to solidify South East support for President Tinubu’s potential re-election bid while highlighting Senator Kalu’s role as a key ally in the region. The Abia North senator, a former governor, has emerged as a prominent advocate for the ruling party in Igboland.
“The people of the South East are very pleased and satisfied with the exceptional leadership and transformational contributions of Distinguished Senator Orji Uzor Kalu,” the statement read. “His efforts have significantly impacted the region and will contribute immensely to securing a 90 percent electoral victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 elections.”
Citing Development Achievements
COSEYL credited Kalu with delivering tangible projects including school renovations, road constructions, agricultural investments, and youth empowerment programs – factors they say will drive political support.
“Senator Kalu has consistently worked toward the betterment of our region—renovating schools, constructing roads, investing in agriculture, and implementing various youth empowerment initiatives,” the group stated. “These democracy dividends have laid a strong foundation of trust and support for the President’s vision.”
2027 Electoral Calculations
The planned mega rally signals early political positioning as Nigeria’s next election cycle approaches. COSEYL framed the event as both an appreciation of current leadership and a show of force for future electoral ambitions.
“As we build momentum for the upcoming campaign, this rally will serve as a powerful demonstration of unity and endorsement from the South East. The future is bright under the continued leadership of President Tinubu and Senator Kalu,” the statement concluded.
The announcement comes amid ongoing debates about the ruling party’s penetration in the South East, traditionally an opposition stronghold. Political analysts suggest such early mobilization could reshape the region’s electoral dynamics.
