President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has voiced concern over the weeklong blackout affecting the northern region, emphasizing the urgent need to restore power to communities impacted by the outage. Summoning Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, the President directed swift action to reinstate electricity across affected northern states.
President Tinubu, troubled by reports of sabotage to public infrastructure, instructed Minister Adelabu and the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to expedite repairs on the Shiroro-Kaduna transmission line and devise a long-term plan to prevent future disruptions. He further tasked TCN engineers to accelerate relief efforts for communities facing prolonged outages, ensuring that essential power is restored to sustain both social and economic activities.
In addition, President Tinubu ordered National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu to coordinate with the Army and Air Force, providing security for TCN repair teams, including aerial surveillance to safeguard personnel and assets. He called on traditional and community leaders to collaborate with security agencies to prevent further damage to public infrastructure, affirming that the government will no longer tolerate willful destruction of national assets.
