Peter Obi Abandons PDP

Date:

Former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Obi announced his resignation from the party in a letter addressed to the National Chairman of the party, Senator Iyorchia Ayu.

Besides his abandonment of the party, Obi also disclosed in the letter that he was withdrawing from the contest for the party’s ticket, a decision coming barely three days to the exercise.

He said he made the decision to leave the party because of his unwavering commitment to rescuing Nigeria, no matter the route.

In the letter, which was dated May 24, Obi said it was a great honour to have contributed to nation-building efforts through PDP, and lamented that the recent developments within the party have made it impossible for him to continue being a member and making strategic contributions. He also said the current challenges facing the country are deep-seated and would require profound sacrifices to surmount.
