The Osun State Caucus in the 10th House of Representatives has strongly condemned the unlawful attempt by dismissed local government council officials to reclaim their positions, despite a clear ruling from the Court of Appeal in Akure against their reinstatement.
Speaking on behalf of the caucus in Abuja, Hon. Bamidele Salam, supported by 11 other members, expressed deep concern over the breakdown of law and order in Osun State. He reiterated their unwavering commitment to upholding democratic principles and the rule of law.
During a press briefing at the National Assembly, the members emphasized that Governor Ademola Adeleke had previously appealed to President Bola Tinubu to prevent undue influence on security agencies regarding the matter.
The caucus accused the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, and other APC leaders of orchestrating the disruptive events with the backing of security agencies. They described the situation as a direct threat to peace and democracy, citing numerous violent attacks against innocent citizens allegedly carried out by APC-aligned individuals and security forces.
In response, the caucus called on President Bola Tinubu to instruct the Inspector General of Police to restore peace and order in Osun State. They also urged the President to direct the National Security Adviser and the Attorney General of the Federation to caution the ruling party against actions that could further escalate tensions in the state.
