Nigeria’s U-23 and U-18 Men’s Handball Teams Enter Intensive Training Ahead of International Competitions

Nigeria’s Under-23 and Under-18 Men’s Handball Teams have commenced intensive preparatory camps ahead of two prestigious international handball championships.

The national Under-23 men’s handball team, coached by Solomon Yola and Adebayo Yekini, is currently undergoing rigorous training in Abuja in preparation for the 5th IHF Emerging Nations Championship. The tournament is scheduled to take place from 11th to 16th March, 2025, in Varna, Bulgaria.

Meanwhile, the national Under-18 men’s handball team, led by coaches Emeka Nnamani and Joshua Ayo, has started its preparations in Lagos ahead of the IHF Trophy Intercontinental Phase. The competition will be held in Pristina, Kosovo, from 12th to 16th March, 2025.

The Under-18 team will represent Africa in the tournament after securing the championship title in the Continental Phase with an impressive 38-26 victory over Guinea in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in November 2024.
