Nigeria’s Super Eagles Drop 8 Places In Latest FIFA Rankings

Date:

Nigeria’s National Football Team, the Super Eagles, have experienced a significant decline in the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday morning.

After a remarkable performance in the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, where they secured a commendable 30th position in April, the team has now fallen to 38th globally and ranks 5th in Africa.

Currently, Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, and Ivory Coast hold the top four positions respectively on the continent.

The drop in Nigeria’s ranking can be attributed to their recent underwhelming performances in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin.

Meanwhile, Argentina leads the global rankings, followed by France, Belgium, Brazil, and England in the top five spots.
