NIDCOM CONDEMNS TREATMENT OF SUPER EAGLES BY LIBYA AUTHORITIES

Date:

The Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has condemned the poor treatment of the Super Eagles football team by Libyan authorities ahead of their second-leg match against Libya.

The team, which departed Nigeria on Sunday, had their flight unexpectedly diverted to a remote airport far from the match venue, forcing the players to endure a grueling three-hour road journey through a high-risk area.

Hon. Dabiri-Erewa expressed deep concern for the players’ safety and urged the Ministry of Sports and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to act swiftly to ensure their well-being. She also called on the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to address the issue with the seriousness it deserves.

She appealed to the Super Eagles to remain calm as the NFF determines the next steps, emphasizing that the safety and welfare of Nigerian players must always come first.
