The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has officially launched its online portal for the Youth Internship Scheme, aimed at engaging 10,000 youths across the Niger Delta region.
The scheme is designed to provide training in various fields, including agriculture, technology, craftsmanship, medicine, teaching, and entrepreneurship, to equip young people for self-employment.
At the launch ceremony in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, NDDC Managing Director and CEO, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku emphasized the Commission’s commitment to supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic programs for youth development under the “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
He said the NDDC will partner with other agencies to achieve this goal.
The Chairman of Governing Board, NDDC, Mr. Chiedu Ebie who said the portal is now open for applications and will close on August 31, 2024, also mentioned that the scheme is open to youths below the age of 45 from the Nine States of the Niger Delta region.
Representatives from various youth organizations, including the IJAW Youth Council, Niger Delta Youth Council, and others who attended the program expressed their heartfelt gratitude to NDDC for launching the scheme
The NDDC Managing Director, Samuel Ogbuku, and NDDC Governing Board Chairman, Chiedu Ebie expressed optimism that the program will significantly reduce unemployment statistics in the region.
