The Joint Committee on Finance and Budget Planning of the National Assembly has convened a stakeholders’ meeting to discuss the 2025–2027 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP). The deliberation focused on aligning fiscal policies with Nigeria’s developmental priorities while addressing economic challenges.
Senator Sani Musa, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, described the MTEF and FSP as critical instruments for the nation’s budgeting process. He stressed the importance of optimizing revenue streams, tackling financial leakages, and strengthening institutions to address fiscal challenges.
Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Mr. Adewale Edun, acknowledged the progress made in Nigeria’s GDP under President Bola Tinubu’s administration but highlighted the need to address inflation and implement targeted support for vulnerable populations.
Similarly, Minister for National Budget and Planning, Atiku Bagudu, emphasized the need to bolster domestic production to mitigate inflation.
Deputy Senate President Senator Barau, representing the Senate President, reiterated the 10th National Assembly’s commitment to formulating policies that drive economic growth and prosperity for all Nigerians.
