The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has assured the people of Adamawa State that the National Assembly will expedite action on the bill for the establishment of the Federal University of Education, Numan, Adamawa State, and represent it to the President for assent.
Akpabio gave this assurance on Wednesday while receiving a delegation from the Adamawa South Senatorial Contact Group, led by Professor Maxwell Gidado. The delegation visited the National Assembly to lobby for the speedy reconsideration of the bill, which President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had earlier declined to assent to in February due to some observations.
Akpabio stated that the issues raised by the President were minimal and could be addressed promptly. He assured the delegation that the National Assembly would prioritize the bill to ensure the realization of their dream of establishing a Federal University of Education in Numan.
“We will not leave you out because what you have come for is something that will promote not just unity but also knowledge and assist in curbing insecurity in the northern part of the country,” Akpabio said.
Professor Gidado, the leader of the delegation, expressed gratitude for the Senate President’s commitment and explained that their visit was aimed at seeking the Senate’s intervention to make the necessary corrections or amendments to the bill and secure the President’s assent.
The delegation was accompanied by their Senator, Binos Dauda Yaroe, during the visit to the Office of the Senate President.
