NAF, NNPC Partner To Secure Critical Oil, Gas Infrastructure

Date:

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) have renewed their collaboration to protect vital oil and gas assets across the country.

The strengthened cooperation was announced in a statement by NAF Director of Public Relations, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, following a courtesy visit by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, to NNPC Group Chief Executive Officer, Bayo Ojulari, in Abuja.

During the visit, Aneke stressed the strategic importance of safeguarding pipelines, flow stations, offshore platforms, and other critical energy installations. He underscored the need for advanced technology and intelligence—particularly expanded surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities—to ensure early threat detection and rapid response.

He noted that better alignment between NAF operations and NNPC priorities would guarantee uninterrupted energy supply, boost production, and reinforce economic stability. According to him, the Air Force has already recorded significant progress in combating oil theft through coordinated efforts with other security agencies.

Ojulari, in his response, commended the Air Force for its commitment and described the renewed partnership as timely under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive for NNPC to ramp up investment and productivity. He reaffirmed NNPC’s support for joint initiatives, including intelligence sharing, operational planning, and the deployment of modern security technologies to safeguard vulnerable assets.

Aneke added that the enhanced cooperation would protect national resources, strengthen coastal and maritime security, and counter threats posed by insurgents and criminal networks.
