Jose Mourinho has made history by becoming the first manager to win all three major European trophies when he clinched the Europa Conference League title against Feyenoord last night with Roma. The win also makes Roma the first team to win the maiden edition of the UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL).
The tussle for the UECL final was settled by Nikolo Zaniolo’s first-half goal when the Italian attacker reacted first to Gianluca Mancini’s cross which was misjudged by a Feyenoord defender, as he slotted home with a flick beyond the goalkeeper.
Even with abounding pressure from Feyenoord’s attack in the second half, hitting the bar twice in quick succession, the Romans held on to their lead till the end of the game to lift their first-ever major European trophy in 50 years, sending their fans screaming with delight.
