Governor Abdullahi Sule has commended Nasarawa State residents for their strong democratic spirit as they turned out to vote in local government elections. Governor Sule lauded Barrister Ayuba Wandai, Chairman of the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC), for facilitating the seamless conduct of the elections and expressed gratitude to the State Commissioner of Police for maintaining security across polling stations.
On November 2, Nasarawa residents cast their votes to elect local government representatives, with 13 local government areas participating in this exercise of civic duty. After voting at his polling unit in Gudi, Akwanga Local Government Area, Governor Sule praised the election process and voiced his commitment to advancing local government autonomy.
Despite the All Progressives Congress (APC) and ten other political parties taking part, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) boycotted the election. In response to a low turnout reported across several polling units, NASIEC’s Chairman and Commissioner of Police, Shehu Nadada, reiterated the importance of a fair process and assured the public of continued security throughout the election period.
