Judges of the Federal High Court will embark on their annual yuletide vacation starting December 16, 2024.
In a statement issued by the Chief Judge, Justice John Tsoho, on Tuesday, the vacation period will last until January 6, 2025, with court activities resuming across all judicial divisions on January 7.
This vacation is in line with the provisions of Order 46, Rule 4 (C) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2019, as amended.
During the break, only urgent cases involving enforcement of fundamental rights, vessel arrests or releases, and matters of significant national interest will be entertained by designated vacation judges.
The court will operate solely in its core divisions of Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt during this period. For the Abuja division, Justice Emeka Nwite and Justice M. S. Liman will preside over cases.
In the Lagos division, Justice Akintayo Aluko and Justice Isaac Dipeolu will handle proceedings, while Justice P. M. Ayua and Justice A. T. will serve in the Port Harcourt division.
The court assured that urgent matters will be given the necessary attention during the holiday period to maintain the swift delivery of justice.
