As part of its ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and criminal activities in the nation’s capital, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has confirmed the neutralization of nine wanted kidnappers. FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, provided the update while parading six other kidnapping suspects, explaining that the nine suspects were killed during a gunfight with security forces in clearance operations at kidnappers’ dens in Kweri Forest, Kaduna State, and Gauraka Forest, Niger State.
During the briefing, CP Disu detailed the atrocities committed by the suspects and their involvement in armed robbery and kidnapping attacks on Dei-Dei, Bwari, and Dawaki communities in the FCT. Recovered items included five AK-47 rifles, 100 rounds of live 7.62mm ammunition, and 10 AK-47 magazines.
Kidnapped victims were also present at the parade, sharing their traumatic experiences at the hands of the kidnappers. One of the suspects admitted to his role in the crimes.
The FCT Command reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy toward crime and assured the public of its continued commitment to security in the FCT and surrounding areas.
