Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike has issued a stern warning to contractors lagging behind on project deadlines, stating that those who fail to meet expectations will be disqualified from future projects.
The warning came during the Minister’s inspection of the Apo Roundabout to Wassa Road project in Abuja on Friday.
Expressing disappointment with the slow progress, Barr. Wike urged contractors to strictly adhere to the terms of their contracts to avoid sanctions. He described the extended completion date, now shifted from the December-January period to May, as unacceptable.
The Minister also directed the Director of Engineering Services at the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr. Richard Johanna, to obtain a firm commitment from the contractors on meeting the new deadline. Additionally, he demanded a detailed work plan, emphasizing the road project’s critical importance to both the FCT administration and its residents.
