Ese Brume Wins Gold, Breaks Commonwealth Games Record

Date:

Team Nigeria’s long jumper, Ese Brume has won gold for her country in the women’s long jump event of the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Ese Brume leaped 7.00 metres to break the Commonwealth Games record and won the event with a jump to spare after having a series of no jumps in her earlier attempts.

Brume’s triumph happened on the same day her colleague Tobi Amusan set a new Games Record in the women’s 100m hurdles after finishing the race within 12.30 seconds to retain the title she clinched in Australia in 2018.

The Nigerian athlete had stamped her place in the team at this level, having won her first gold medal in the Commonwealth Games in 2014 and 2018 and more laurels at the World Athletics Championship and Olympics.
