EDUCATION MINISTER REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO IMPROVING TEACHING CONDITIONS NATIONWIDE

Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yusuf Sununu, has reaffirmed the government’s dedication to creating a more conducive environment for educators across Nigeria. Speaking at the International Teachers’ Day celebration in Abuja, organized by the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union, Dr. Sununu underscored the vital role education plays in national development.

He urged Nigerian teachers to adopt more functional educational practices that align with global standards to enhance their impact on students.

During the event, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Commission of Colleges of Education, Prof. Paulinus Okwelle, commended the achievements of teachers but highlighted the urgent need to address challenges within the profession.

The celebration also recognized notable contributors to the growth of education in Nigeria. Speaking on behalf of the awardees, the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Arch. Sunny Echono, pledged continued support for the development of the nation’s educational system.

The event also featured the conferment of the Legacy Award for Educational Advancement and the awarding of scholarships to outstanding students from colleges of education across the six geo-political zones, further showcasing excellence in education.
