D’Tigress Coach Rena Wakama Named Best Coach at 2024 Paris Olympics

D’Tigress Coach, Rena Wakama has been named Best Coach in the women’s basketball event at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

The International Basketball Federation disclosed this in a statement on Sunday night.

Under Wakama’s leadership, the Nigerian women’s team advanced to the quarter-finals for the first time in its history, making them the first African team, male or female, to reach this stage of the tournament.

Wakama is also the first coach of the Nigerian National Female Basketball Team to win the women’s Afro-basket title since the tournament’s inception in 1966.

In 2023, she became the first female head coach of D’Tigress, having previously served as the director of women’s basketball operations at the Nigeria Basketball Federation.
