PORT HARCOURT — Suspended Rivers State Governor, Mr. Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to upholding the rule of law, defending civil liberties, and ensuring inclusive democratic participation.
In a Democracy Day message issued Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara emphasized the importance of transparent governance and robust security in safeguarding lives and property across the state.
Reflecting on Nigeria’s 26 years of uninterrupted democratic rule, the governor called for unity and collaboration across political lines to foster a society where all citizens have a voice and feel supported.
“Democracy must be actively protected and nurtured, especially during periods of political turbulence,” Fubara said, alluding to recent political tensions in Rivers State.
He reiterated his administration’s focus on fairness, accountability, and inclusive policymaking, stressing that government should work for all, regardless of background or affiliation.
Fubara urged Nigerians to honor the legacy of those who fought for democracy by remaining united, innovative, and committed to shared goals.
Expressing optimism, he declared that Rivers State would emerge stronger and more united despite present challenges, and called on citizens to play active roles in building a more equitable and prosperous future for both the state and the nation.
