Daura Emirate will hold a traditional durbar, alongside other activities, today, in honour of former President Muhammadu Buhari, in his hometown, Daura, Katsina State.
Buhari, who handed over to his successor, President Bola Tinubu, in Abuja, yesterday, left the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for Katsina shortly afterwards.
He is expected to receive a rousing welcome from people of his hometown, at the event, which will be hosted by Emir of Daura, Alhaji Farouk Umar.
The new governor of the state, Dr. Dikko Radda, his deputy, Farouk Jobe, former governor, Aminu Masari, and other dignitaries are expected to grace the occasion.
Part of the activities include horse racing and riding by hundreds of community members and district heads, adorned with traditional gowns and turbaned caps.
Local hunters, political and religious groups, as well as market men and women, are also expected to participate in the welcoming ceremony.
