Chelsea, one of the favorites to win the Conference League, took control of their last-16 tie with a 2-1 victory over Copenhagen in Denmark on Thursday.
Captain Reece James opened the scoring with a stunning low strike from 30 yards out early in the second half, giving the Blues the lead. Chelsea doubled their advantage in the 65th minute through substitute Enzo Fernandez.
Copenhagen pulled one back when Gabriel Pereira powered home a header from Marcos Lopez’s deep free-kick. However, Chelsea remains in a strong position to progress to the quarter-finals.
The second leg will be played at Stamford Bridge on Thursday, March 13.
