CAF PRESIDENT PROMISES THOROUGH INVESTIGATION INTO NIGERIA’S AFCON QUALIFIER CONTROVERSY

Date:

President of the Confederation of African Football, Mr. Patrice Motsepe, has assured that a thorough investigation is underway following the recent controversy surrounding Nigeria’s AFCON qualifier against Libya.

Mr. Motsepe made this assurance during a news conference on Tuesday after the CAF’s 46th Ordinary General Assembly in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

He emphasized that the confederation would not tolerate any lack of sportsmanship in African football.

The Super Eagles faced several challenges in Libya, including a redirected flight, an over 18-hour delay at the airport, and logistical complications that hindered the team’s preparation.

Mr. Motsepe noted that the incident is being investigated and assured that appropriate action will be taken, as CAF will not accept the poor treatment of visiting teams.
